Everything you need to get started with Event Scheduler. Learn how to set up reminders, play media on schedule, and more.
When you first open Event Scheduler, you'll be greeted with the home screen. This is your command center for all scheduled events.
Home screen on first launch
On first launch, you'll be asked to grant a few important permissions:
Grant all permissions during setup to avoid issues later. You can always manage them from your device's Settings.
The app has four main sections accessible from the bottom navigation bar:
Event Scheduler supports three core event types, each designed for a different use case.
Choose the event type that fits your need
A simple alert that fires a notification at your scheduled time. Perfect for quick one-off or recurring reminders like "Take medicine" or "Stand up and stretch."
Similar to a reminder, but designed for to-do items. Tasks appear in your list and can be marked as complete when done.
Plays audio or video at the scheduled time. Supports local files (MP3, MP4, etc.), YouTube videos, and YouPlayer streams. Great for alarms with your favorite music or scheduled announcements.
The reminder/task creation screen
When the reminder fires, you'll see a heads-up notification with Snooze (delays 10 min) and Dismiss buttons. Your selected tone plays at the configured volume. Tapping Dismiss or Snooze immediately stops the sound.
Customize how your reminder sounds when it triggers. Choose from system tones, your own audio files, or record a voice memo directly in the app.
Recorded voices are stored privately within the app. When a reminder is deleted, its recorded voice file is automatically cleaned up.
Use the volume slider (0–100%) to set how loud the reminder tone plays when triggered. This adjusts the device's alarm stream volume at playback time.
Tap the ✕ button next to the tone name to clear your selection and revert to the default notification sound.
Recording requires microphone permission. The app will prompt you to grant it when you tap Record for the first time.
Media event creation with file selection and volume control
Make sure media files are not moved or deleted after scheduling. If a file is missing at playback time, the event will show an error notification.
Media events now include a dedicated Playback Options card with advanced controls for how your media plays back.
When you have multiple files or videos queued, enable Shuffle to randomize the playback order. Each time the event triggers, the queue is played in a different random sequence.
Automatically stop playback after a set duration. Ideal for bedtime music or meditation sessions where you don't want media playing indefinitely.
Combine the sleep timer with a recurring daily event to create a bedtime routine that automatically stops after you fall asleep.
For YouPlayer media events, you can enable Audio-Only mode to play just the audio track without showing the video overlay. This saves battery and lets you use other apps while listening.
Audio-Only mode is not available for the YouTube source type (which always uses the embedded video player). Use YouPlayer as the source for audio-only playback.
YouTube video playback with overlay controls
Event Scheduler includes a built-in player for YouTube content. You can schedule YouTube videos to play at any time — perfect for morning motivation, news briefings, or ambient music.
Add full YouTube playlists by pasting the playlist URL or ID. All videos in the playlist are queued and played in sequence (or shuffled if shuffle mode is enabled).
YouTube playback requires an active internet connection at the scheduled time. If offline, the event will trigger an error notification instead.
Any event type can be set to repeat automatically. This is ideal for daily alarms, weekly meetings, or monthly reminders.
After each trigger, the event automatically reschedules for the next occurrence. You can disable or delete individual events without affecting future ones.
If a recurring event is missed (device was off, battery optimization interfered), the app automatically recovers and reschedules it for the next valid occurrence. A daily background worker checks for any missed recurring events and brings them back on track.
Use the Disable toggle to pause recurring events during vacations without losing your schedule.
Home screen with active events
Each event card has a toggle switch:
Reminder screen
The Reminders tab shows all reminders and tasks that have been triggered. This gives you a history of what's fired recently.
Completed reminders are automatically deleted after 7 days. No manual cleanup needed.
Use the Reminders screen to quickly see what triggered recently and edit reminders that need rescheduling.
The Home screen now includes radio button filters to quickly narrow down your event list by type.
The filter appears as a row of radio buttons at the top of the event list. Tap any option to instantly filter the display. "All" is selected by default when you open the app.
Use the Media filter to quickly manage all your music alarms and scheduled playback events without scrolling through reminders.
The Disabled tab shows all paused events
Disabled events are media events you've temporarily paused. They won't trigger at their scheduled time, but you can re-enable them anytime.
Events that remain disabled for more than 30 days are automatically deleted to keep your list clean. Re-enable events before then if you plan to use them again.
Media events automatically move here after playback completes. Re-enable them with a new time to play again.
Media continues playing in the background with notification controls
Media events play through a foreground service, meaning audio and video continue even when your screen is off or you're using other apps.
Battery optimization can kill background playback. Make sure to set the app to "Unrestricted" in your device's battery settings. See the Permissions section below for details.
Some manufacturers (Xiaomi, Vivo, POCO, Oppo, Realme, Samsung) have extra restrictions:
Event Scheduler automatically reschedules all active events after a reboot. If events aren't firing after restart:
Use the in-app Help & FAQ (Settings → Help) for device-specific permission guides. It auto-detects your device brand and shows relevant instructions.
